Species: 1% velvet worm 99% human
Adhesive: By tightly clenching the muscles in his forearms glands underneath the muscles are compressed. This causes adhesive to be shot out of orifices on his palms for a distance of up to twenty feet. Upon hitting an object it immediately begins to solidify. It goes from a liquid to a solid, rendering nearly anything immobile. If Andre sprays this on an open wound be it his or someone else when the glue dries it does an excellent job of stopping the bleeding. Over time however the adhesive mixture becomes dry and brittle, at which point it can be shattered.
Forearm strength: To be able to expel the fluid from these glands a distance they had to be strong, able to give a hard and fast squeeze to force it out rapidly. If he grabs on to something he can apply enough force to crunch bones. This is the only part of him that is super strong; every other muscle is that of a normal human.
Vulnerable arms: Though his adhesive glands are his most powerful weapon they are also his biggest weakness. They are right below the muscles and if punctured the adhesive will begin to leak out, and it solidifies when exposed to the air. This means if a wound is bad enough it will begin to solidify inside of him leading to all sorts of complications.
Too much grip: Andre’s forearms are strong, but the bones in his fingers aren’t made for that. If he attempts to crush something very sturdy like metal, rock, or wood, his fingers will break.
Poor eyesight: His mutation has taken a severe toll on his vision, and without his glasses he’s pretty much helpless.
[ Personal ]
Andre is a mesomorph with a very thin body, showing his lack of muscle mass. He has very pale skin and a line of freckles across his nose and under his eyes. His eyes are a bright lime green, somewhat highlighted by his black eyeglasses. He has messy brown hair that’s about an inch long going every which way. On his forehead are two soft velvet worm antennae that extend out and curl off to the side. His body shape is proportionate, with the exception of his massive forearms.
They are almost double the size of his biceps and make him look very similar to Popeye in that regard. The muscles are somewhat squishy because of the adhesive glands underneath and flop around when he’s moving. On the palms of his hands are orifices which are closed when not needed and only open when ejecting fluid. Andre wears neon green fingerless gloves to protect these orifices which are held on and easily removed by a Velcro strap on the wrist. To show he’s a medic he wears a plain white short sleeved t-shirt with a red on the right side of the chest, and a big cross on the back of it. Andre also wears a pair of neon green shorts with pockets and matching sneakers.
Personality: Respectful: The whitecoats raised a proper gentleman. Andre tries not to insult people or upset them, and hardly ever uses profanities or obscene gestures. The only times he does are when he’s in a great deal of pain or it’s a life or death situation. If he does offend you he more than likely didn’t mean to and he’ll apologize as soon as he possibly can.
Fun-loving: Being an iTex agent hasn’t rendered his enjoyment of fun dead. During his free time he enjoys playing games on his lime-colored 3DS, board games with his coworkers, or he just uses his imagination to get some happiness out of life. Give the kid a coat hanger and he can find something amusing to do with it.
Protective: Those who are his friends or those he cares about are his first priority. If they are in danger he will go to great lengths including putting himself in harms way to protect them. Andre is a loyal and trusting friend who will stick by you, right up until you give him a reason to not to.
Insecure: Andre knows he isn’t good enough; your reassurances are just empty gestures. He dreams of being a whitecoat someday, being taught all their skills and having a place among them. But he has to first prove he deserves it, and his skills as a medic are mediocre at best, which has led him to believe whatever he does isn’t good enough and causes major self confidence issues.
Tolerant: To him people are people. He doesn’t judge them based on age, gender, mutation, etc. Andre judges you based on your actions. He has the same view of everyone until they show him that he should think otherwise of them. Even then, it’s the actions and the person who he looks at, not their beliefs or who they are.
History: Born to a single mother she was a reporter who dug too deep into iTex and they sent an assassin. They figured since she had no family they no one would miss her and investigate. The assailant killed her but hearing her child cry they had an attack of conscience.
Killing an adult was one thing; kids were another. To ease their mind the killer brought him to iTex and gave him to the whitecoats. Though surprised by the complication in the plan they were delighted to have another test subject. Deciding to test the effects of a super ancient species they gave Andre Velvet worm DNA and carefully monitored his mutation.
The hope was to create a hunter mutant that could stick fast or flying mutants helpless so that erasers could move in for the capture, and so far it was working. After his antenna came in they suspected that he would be able to secrete the adhesive through these, but when his forearms started to hypertrophy they became worried and X-Rayed them.
To their surprise his body had built the glands here under the muscle, and created orifices on his palms to shoot the adhesive substance.
As he came of age he trained with his abilities, hitting targets from increasing distances away to practice distance and moving targets for accuracy. His skills advanced and his loyalty to iTex rose as they trained and cared for him, he grew close to the whitecoats who raised him. He came to value them as role models and desired to become one of them. All was good, and succeeding on more missions than he failed ensured he was considered useful.
One night there was an escape attempt and a mutant clawed a whitecoat’s side open, and even his comrades thought he was a goner. Andre thought fast and sprayed adhesive on the wound, and as it solidified it stopped the bleeding, giving the whitecoats all the time they needed to get him to the infirmary and heal him. He was commended for his quick actions and rewarded with a chance to prove himself to iTex. He was sent to the Queensland facility to heal the workers and prisoners there as well as help bring in the runaways. If he succeeded he was promised full medical training, and a place among the whitecoats.
